A Little Shopping Before Bondage

On Sunday, I had a shoot with Dan from www.dansbondagebabes.com. We were shooting in the early evening, so I had most of the day to myself. I checked out of my hotel (I was driving to Eugene after my shoot) & decided to go over to NW 23rd St. I spent the day there the last time I was in town, & I really liked it. There was a store over there called Blush Beauty Bar that I wanted to visit. I bought a Lily Lambert perfume oil there, in February, and I needed to replace it. I checked it out online, and the only place to purchase her products, besides her website, is in CA, OR & WA. I usually wear the U from her Spectrum collection, but they didn't have it. Not to worry, they had quite a few of her other scents there that I didn't see the last time. I settled on one from her Goddess collection called Sedna. I may even like it better than the other one ;) I stopped in another store called 3 Monkeys that was a mixture of new & vintage/antique clothing, accessories & small items for the home. Oddly enough, they had a small case with bakelite & celluloid bracelets. I really wanted the celluloid bracelet that they had, but my budget said no, lol. I settled on a chunky cream colored one. The other 2 bakelite bracelets in the photo came from Ray's Rags in downtown Portland. That place was like a Bakelite Mecca for me, lol. Again, I wish that I had a bigger spending budget because Ray's had some truly unique pieces at extremely good prices.
I quickly grabbed some lunch at McMenamin's & went to my shoot. The shoot was cool, and fairly easy, and Dan was really nice to work with. Keep checking www.dansbondagebabes.com for my updates!

After the shoot, I made my way down to Eugene. I had a shoot for Wicked Works Productions the next day. It was going to be another long day of dying & freezing, lol.

A Night Off With Amazing People

I had the whole day off on Saturday. What to do, what to do......well, I really needed to get my hair colored, so at my friend Cecily's suggestion, I went to Epicenter & a lovely stylist named Stephanie hooked me up. Stephanie was super sweet & super talented, and if you are in the Portland area & need your hair did, go to www.epicenterhair.com to schedule an appointment with her. Trust me, you'll thank me later ;)

Once my hair was back to it's old self, I decided to do a little shopping on Hawthorne St., as suggested by Stephanie. Hawthorne St. is a really cool strip of restaurants, theaters & shops. I perused the vintage & resale stores & I had lunch at a delicious restaurant. I would tell you where I ate, but I forget the name. Anyway, I had a delicious cold cucumber soup & some ahhh-mazing mac & cheese. I did ok with the resale shops, too. I found an awesome pair of vintage patent leather heels, and a pair of Melissa shoes. I was especially excited about the Melissa shoes. They are a deep berry color jelly shoe in a 40's style heel.

After I was finished shopping around, I drove back to my hotel. I was going out later that night, and I still had some things to take care of. I was hanging out with the producer from Smutty Cash, Nathan, and his girlfriend, Cecily, that evening. Cecily works in a night club/bar & Nathan & I were going to go hang out with her at her work. Let me just say, I had so much fun! The bar was cool, but it was so packed & sooooo hot inside, so Nathan & I went outside to hang out. It was definitely great people watching, lol. There was a girl near us who had tanned herself the color of a hot pretzel, and she thought she was the shit, lol. She was doing this ridiculous dance & we just snickered & laughed & kept referring to her as The Pretzel.

While we waited for Cecily to finish cleaning, afterwards, Nathan & I went to one of the local food carts to grab hot dogs. These hot were amazing! So yummy! One of their friends ended up driving us back to their place, and then I got in my car & drove back to my hotel. I had a lot of fun hanging out & I enjoyed getting to know those  guys better!

Let me just take this opportunity to talk about how much I love my job & how it allows me to travel to places that I wouldn't have gotten to travel to otherwise, have amazing experiences & adventures & meet some really amazing people, some of whom are starting to become great friends. I seriously love, love, love every aspect of what I do. The work is fun, and always different & the people are just incredible. I've had many jobs & worn many hats in my life, but I have never had the experiences & met the kind of outstanding people, as I have with this job. It's nights like Saturday night, spent with amazing & generous people, that make me realize how lucky I really am.

Anyway, back to where I left off. I drove back to my hotel, and someone must've gotten married earlier & were honeymooning at the airport Ramada (lol) because I walked past this lovely vehicle on my way to the door:

Oh Portland! LOL

I'm Just A Hopeless Necromantic

Today I did my first shoot of my trip for Chris' Corner ( http://nicheclips.com/shop.php?store_id=43). I worked for Chris the last time I was in town, and we had a lot of fun, so I was looking forward to working with him again. This time we were going to change things up a bit for our two scenes.  Chris was going to be the actor, while his assistant worked the camera. Once scene would be a strangulation, he might even post the clip in black & white, which would be cool. Of course, there was plenty of "fake banging", you perverts ;)

The clips were fun to shoot, and once my character was dead, it was really hard not to laugh at some of the things that Chris was saying, lol. The second clip that we shot, had me making dinner for my boyfriend, but unbeknownst to me, the boyfriend sent over one of his hit man friends to kill me. I got shot in the forehead, and of course fell on the floor & died. He took my clothed off, and proceeded to "fake bang" me, when the dog decided to join in, lol. That was awkward, but really funny. He said that the first clip should be up around September 1st, so don't forget to check it out.

Afterwards, I went up to NE Alberta St. to grab some dinner. I went to the Radio Room the last time I was here, but this time, I wanted to try the Grilled Cheese Grill. This place was pretty cool. The kitchen was a big Airstream trailer, and you walked up to the window, placed your order, paid & then walked over to the next window to pick it up. The had some outdoor seating, but they also had some indoor seating inside an old converted school bus. I chose to sit there. I ordered the BABS, which had cheese, bacon & apple slices on it, and a cup of homemade tomato soup. It was the most delicious thing that I had ever eaten, lol. I highly recommend eating here if you are ever in Portland!

PDX Redux

Yesterday started my PDX Redux trip. This was actually supposed to be my second PNW trip of the year, but pretty much all of my shoots ended up in Portland, and with my sister no longer living in Seattle (Hello, 'frisco!) there's really no reason to go there. I mean, I can think of a million reasons to go to Seattle, but if there's no work there for me, then it's not financially responsible, unfortunately.

My day started at 4:30 am EST & ended at approximately 11:30 pm PST, when my eyes could just not hold themselves open any longer. My flight left Pittsburgh at 8am, so I picked up my friend Jay around 5:45 am & we drove to the airport. He dropped me off at the Southwest gate & I got in line to check in. I then went through security & went to wait at my departure gate. I didn't have much of a wait, so I caught up on my blog a little & checked some emails. I also realized that I had a huge gap in my work schedule, for this trip, and I had to do some thinking & re-evaluating. My last paid shoot was on Wednesday 8/24. Thursday 8/25 would need to be a travel day, but my next paid shoot wasn't until Monday 8/29, the day before I was supposed to fly home. I had some thinking to do, and plenty of time in the air to do it.

The plane took off & headed to Vegas. Weird...I thought my layover was in Reno. Oh, ha! It was in Reno, we just had to land in Vegas, let some people off of the plane, let more people get onto the plane & THEN head to Reno. Why in the world did I book a flight like that? Oh, well, too late now. The flight to Vegas was pretty smooth, and my anxiety stayed in check, thankfully. It was a really pretty & clear day, so we were able to see the mountains, lakes & desert below us, including the Grande Canyon, which was cool. A very sweet older lady was seated to my right, and she pointed to a few mountains & asked if they were the Rockies. I politely told her that I didn't think so. She then asked if we were flying over Montana. Again, I was polite, but thought to myself, "God, I hope not,".

We arrived in Vegas, did the passenger switcharoo, and then headed to Reno. The flight was short & sweet & I had about an hour to kill before my flight to Portland. Let me just say that the Reno airport is great for people watching. Anyway, I had decided to shorten my trip out here & fly home 4 days early, due to lack of bookings.  I checked on the Southwest website, and it was only going to cost me $15 to change my flight. A small price to pay considering what I'd have to pay in hotel fees, rental car fees & food, etc. I made the change & then contacted the photographer regarding the one shoot that I did have booked. He wasn't happy, but he completely understood where I was coming from & thanked me for giving him plenty of notice so that he could cancel his studio time.

I boarded the plane for my final flight of the day, and I arrived in Portland about an hour & a half later. Picked up my rental car, drove to my hotel & was finally able to relax. I checked my email, did a few more things online & decided to watch TV & then read a book. I was so tired from travel & the time change, but I pushed myself to stay awake so that I didn't wake up at 4 am wide awake. I finally fell asleep around 11:30 & I slept pretty good. Now I'm finishing this up, and then getting ready for my first shoot. Gonna be fun!

Fetcon 2011

Wow! I can't believe another Fetishcon has already come & gone. This year was only my 3rd 'con, but I feel that it was by far, my favorite. This was also the first year that I actually stayed at the Hyatt during the convention, and after staying there, I'll never stay offsite again. I saw a lot of old friends, met some great new friends, the weekend truly was a whirlwind for me. So,  instead of boring you with every minute detail, I will just post some pictures, and let them speak for themselves! Enjoy!

Canada. That's it, just Canada...

I left Buffalo, after my final shoot & headed to Toronto, Canada. I had only been to Toronto one other time, and it had been whenever I was 19, so it's been some time ;) I got through customs with no issue, and made it to Toronto in a little less than 2 hours. I was staying with Anthony, the photographer with whom I was working with that weekend, and I was anxious to get there. Unfortunately, Toronto was just as oppressively hot as Buffalo was :(

I shot with Anthony for 3 days, and on the third day, I left for home right after our shoot. We did all kinds of crazy things during our shoot, and I got to wear some crazy get-ups & even some wigs! Anthony is more of a digital artist, so it's really interesting to see the images after he manipulates them & puts in backgrounds, etc. Here's is one pic that we did:

Anthony was such a blast to work with, and such a sweetheart, too! He bought me a little belated birthday cake! I thought that that was just the nicest thing ever!

Anthony was even nice enough to allow me to go through his collection of vintage stockings. He even let me take home a few pair! They are all just so beautiful! Thank you Anthony!!!!

Alas, Sunday rolled around, and it was time for our final shoot, and time for me to make my way home. I was leaving for Fetcon in 3 days, and I had A LOT to take care of. So, we shot our final set, and then I drove the 5 hours home. The drive wasn't bad at all, and it seemed like I was home in no time.
