Tuesday, I headed back to Philly for my shoot with Redrum Collaboration. This shoot was kind of a big deal for me, and I really needed to take my time & look my best. I knew that I was going to be wearing one of my latex dresses, but I wasn't sure which one, so I needed my make-up to be able to coordinate with each of them. This shoot was all about big make-up, big hair, and of course, latex :-)
I curled & set my hair and then started on my make up. Marcus was kind enough to bring me coffee (French press!! Love this man!) and after a few sips, really got down to business. Make-up ended up flawless, but that's not what i was worried about. When it comes to hair, I'm no bueno. This morning, I had a plan & a vision, and I hoped that that was enough, lol. I knew I wanted to do '40's bumper bangs, and I wanted to do them sans rat. I also needed to figure out how to tie the rest of my hair in with the bangs. I finally decided on big, asymmetrical victory rolls with the back hanging down in big curls. Well, the pin-up gods must have been smiling on me this morning because amazingly enough, it worked out! Yay! Now for a 4 hour drive. Bah....
Actually, the drive wasn't too bad & I got there earlier than I expected. Justin & Amanda were so super nice, and such a breeze to work with, that we got everything done in about 45 minutes. Oh, and I got to wear my pretty yellow latex dress!!! I should be getting pics back this week. I can't wait to see them!!
After the shoot, I headed to South St. to grab some dinner. I ended up going to Tattooed Mom's because, not only was it Taco Tuesday, but my friend from high school. Ryan. worked there, and I wanted to surprise him with a visit. Well, surprised he was! I sat at the bar, ate tacos, pierogies, and of course, drank beer.
I could have sat there all night & drank, but my hotel was in NJ & I had to get myself there safely, so after 3 beers, and food, I said my good-byes. My drive to the hotel was pretty uneventful, and so was the hotel, lol. It was nice, but I pretty much just checked my email & slept. I was heading home the next day, but before that, I wanted to do a little vintage shopping.
I had 4 stores on my shopping list that I found on Yelp.com. Well, to make a long story short, only one of those store was still in existence, lol. Memo to self, always call the store first before you waste time driving around, lol. Oh well. The one store that I did get to go to, was pretty cool. It was Astro Vintage, and it was right off of South St, on S 5th St. She had some really cute items, and I found another pair of vintage eyeglass frames. I had dropped a pair off, before I left Pittsburgh, to have my prescription put in them, and it was a good thing since I ended up losing my glasses on this trip. Since I was really in the market for a pair of sunglass frames, the store owner suggested another store to me, across town. I thanked her, and was on my way.
Well, this store is a well hidden gem! This woman had so much stuff packed into the back of some other store, that I still don't think that I got to see everything. She did have some nice glasses frames, but nothing jumped out at me. She did have one pair of frames that I have been thinking about since I left. Maybe I will have her send them to me later. She gave me her card, just in case that happened, lol. I didn't end up buying any glasses there, but I did buy two bakelite bracelets to add to my collection. I left the store, got in my car, and drove home.
