Ok, yes, I realize that this blog update is loooong overdue, but I got really burnt out with work & traveling, and I needed a break. I'm still not feeling 100%, but....this needs to get done.
On Tuesday, October 18th, I left Miami & flew to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The flight was relatively short, and smooth, and during the few instances of turbulence, I tried to forget about the fact that I was flying over the Atlantic Ocean ;) I arrived in the DR, went through customs, and then went to try to find someone from my group. I was in the DR as part of the calendar contest sponsored by Scott Church. There had been a voting process throughout most of this year, and I was one of 11 finalists selected to appear in the calendar & to compete for the cover, while in the DR. You can find out more about this amazing contest, and where & when to buy the calendar, here... www.amateurnudecalendar.com .
I scooped up my luggage & walked around until I saw someone holding a sign from the resort I was to stay at. It didn't take me long to find a gentleman holding up a Caliente Caribe sign. We waited for one more girl, the very beautiful Playboy model Karin Noelle, to land, and then we started our long drive to the resort. The drive from Santo Domingo to our resort was about 3 hours. It may have taken less time if our driver actually went over 40 MPH, but...who knows ;) We had to drive clear to the other side of the island. If you look at a map, you'll see the island that the DR is on (the same island as Haiti) and you will see Santo Domnigo on on side. If you look up, you will see a city called Nagua. Our resort was about 30 minutes past Nagua.
The long drive was really interesting and really quite beautiful! The sky was so blue, and everything was so green. We passed villages, and farms and even rice paddies. Once we were able to see the Ocean, it was amazing how blue it was. But, of course, in the middle of all of that beauty was the harsh reality of a third world country. Huts with out-houses behind them, a family of four on a mo-ped (yes, you read that right) and soldiers with machine guns at the tolls booths. Once we arrived at the entrance to the resort, we were greeted by guards holding machetes. A little unnerving, to say the least.
We made it inside, and drove down the long driveway to the main building. we checked in & were given a brief tour, and then shown to our villas, for the week. Karin ended up in the villa right next to mine, and I had an awesome roommate named Jodi. We got along really well, and our personalities blended perfectly. Here's the view from the porch on my villa.
Here's the view, if you look in the other direction.
Caliente Caribe is an all inclusive, clothing optional resort. The food was great, and the drinks flowed freely, but damn! Some of the things that I saw that week, I could have gone my whole life without seeing, and I would have been just fine. Let's just say that, getting older, I really have nothing to look forward to ;)
Moving on. The entire week was really amazing, and I met some amazing people that I will probably keep in touch with, for many years to come. I also got a lot closer to those that I already knew. That part of the week was very emotional for me, and will more than likely have a lasting effect on my life. Instead of getting into details about that, I'm going to just share my week in pictures with you. All of the following photos were taken by the wildly talented & insanely amazing......Scott Church.
The gang. All eleven ladies, plus Scott, Sara Skweek, and Andy Fugate.
Posing with the very beautiful, Olga.
Once again, all eleven ladies.... and then of course, below, is the absolute last frame of the week.....me.
Immediately following shooting this, me, Scott & Sara all ran into the ocean, for the first time all week, and just had a moment. A moment of slight decompression, a moment of just not fucking caring & a moment of, yes...this week is over & we survived. Barely ;)
Oh, almost forgot! We had the cover contest on Saturday night, and Karin Noelle won 1st place, so keep an eye out for on the cover of the calendar!
