So, yesterday was a pretty challenging, and LONG day, to say the least. My day started at 5am EST, and end at 11:30pm PST, which if you do the math comes out to about 21.5 hours of being awake, in the air & on the road. Whew!
I woke up at 5am to get ready to drive to the airport, only to find out whenever I checked my email that, I technically didn't have a ticket for a flight out of Pittsburgh, just a return flight home from Seattle. WTF?! So, I went on the Southwest website, and the flight that I needed was still open, so I wasn't too worried. I just had to hurry & get my ass to the airport, lol. Let me backtrack a little & explain. My flight was originally supposed to leave on 2/1, but due to bad weather, it got canceled. I went on the website, as directed, and rescheduled for yesterday, Thursday. I thought I did everything correct, but obvioiusly, I didn't. Whenever I got to the airport, the challenge was to find my reservation in the system so that they could get me on a flight while still honoring the original price that I paid. All I have to say is, thank God I always fly Southwest, because they are truly magical and always bend over backwards to help you & make everything smooth as possible. Thank you, Southwest!!!!
So, I make it on my flight, and we proceed to Las Vegas, where I have my layover. Flight was long, but on the whole, pretty uneventful. I land in Vegas, and I'm standing in line waiting to get a sandwich, and the guy in front of me orders a cinnamon raison bagel with tuna fish. Wha??? Yeah, you read that right, and I feel no need to expound on that, at the moment. Believe me, I gave it enough though yesterday. (barf).
I landed safe & sound in Seattle, and again, the flight was fairly smooth & uneventful. I think that I finally have my flight anxiety kicked, but only time & more flights will tell, I guess. I landed in Seattle, gathered my luggage, and went to go get my rental car. Once there, I was faced with another challenge, but not one that I couldn't overcome. I got into my Nissan Versus (I miss my Jetta) and went to go pick up my sister from work.
My sister, Amy, lives & works in the Capital Hill area of Seattle, and if you're not familiar, it is a beautiful place to live. It's a mere quick walking distance to the downtown area and shopping district. For those of you who are familiar, she is within walking distance to the Pike Place Market, and has a fabulous view of the Space Needle from her living room window. I'll take & post pictures whenever I go back up there next week.
I pick her up, we drive the 2 blocks to her apartment, go inside, get refreshed & go grab something to eat. I am completely wiped out & exhausted at this point, and all I can think about is a cheeseburger. She takes me to a place called the Six Arms, and her friend Val meets us there. Dinner was delicious, but brief, since I had to get back in my car & drive 2 1/2 hours to Portland last night. Normally, the drive would have been cake, but after the long & exhausting day that I had, it seemed like an eternity!
I arrive in Portland, check into my hotel, get online for a few minutes and then finally hit the sack. I woke up refreshed & feeling a lot better today. I have my first necro shoot in a few hours, which should be cool, and easy! Basically, all I have to do is get killed, and the get "faked banged", lol. We are only doing 2 scenes, so it shouldn't take too long. I want to head out a little early, though, and try to grab something to eat and a real coffee, not the hotel turd coffee, lol. Hmmm...... maybe afterwards, I can get my nails done, too.
